Are our products vegan?
All scents are small-batch, handmade, and will be vegan barring any expressly noted as 'non-vegan' in the scent index and on product pages. Any non-vegan materials are secondary animal by-products, such as butter CO2 extractions, beeswax absolute, etc. We do not use direct animal parts such as castoreum, deer musk, etc.
We also do not use endangered or threatened plant materials, to the best of our knowledge. If you see notes listed like rosewood, sandalwood, etc., those are reconstructions utilizing synthetics &/or other natural materials aside from the threatened species.
Do we use AI in any way?
Absolutely not. We do not use AI at in at any stage of product development or in any business practices, including marketing - at least to the best of our knowledge.
Tech co's are trying to forcefeed us this hot garbage, as their continued existence depends on the masses adopting them. If we ever inadvertently use AI or something AI-generated, it is wholly unintentional and will be rectified in whatever way possible once we are made aware of it.
PULP Fragrance is, and always has been, staunchly anti-AI, and that will never change. Even if we become at some point forced to use it to be able to continue to exist as a business (our ecomm platform is extremely pro-AI, so I would not put it past them to try to force its use), we will only do so if there is no other way.
Going first-person here for a sec: I - Elizabeth, founder and perfumer - find gen AI to be a scourge on society and especially on creativity. I'm continually appalled and disheartened by its use, especially in perfumery.
The mega-corporations that are attempting to forcing this half-baked, wasteful, atrocious tech into every corner of our lives are the political, environmental, spiritual, and social enemies of humanity. If that makes me sound like a modern-day Luddite, so be it. I will always opt for a hands-on, human-forward approach.
The realities of selling online in this day and age mean I am at times forced to interact with gen AI when attempting to reach customer service for our ecomm platform, hosting service, etc. Aside from that unwanted and non-optional usage, I don't use AI for PULP or even in my personal life.
What carrier do we use in your perfume oils?
Perfume oils are presented in a proprietary combination of FCO (Fractionated Coconut Oil) & IPM (Isopropyl Myristate). Some scents may also contain small amounts of other solvents used in the compounding process, such as ethanol, DPG, or TEC. We do not use DEP or other phthalates.
Will there be free samples in the order?
Every order includes one free sample, selected at random. Note: free samples are not included in orders with larger size Gifts With Purchase.
We prepare free samples in fairly large batches and these may include preview samples of upcoming releases. Requests for specific free samples greatly slow down our order processing times, so we have had to discontinue those.
Free bonus samples are bottled and packed in large batches, we can't guarantee that there will not be repeats of prior items sampled or purchased in earlier orders, though we do make efforts to prevent repeats within the same order when possible. Your understanding is appreciated!
If the free sample received is not listed on the Scent Index it is likely a preview of an upcoming collection. Scent Notes for preview samples will be added soon, if they are not there yet.

Do we ship outside Canada?
International shipping is available to select countries. Currently shipping to: Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. (USA shipping suspended due to trade war, but we are working on a solution for this!)

Customers outside Canada are encouraged to check for any local import restrictions before ordering. We cannot replace or refund packages seized or destroyed by customs or be held responsible for any duties and taxes which may be incurred.
Do we offer free shipping?
Yes! Shipping for Canadian orders over CAD$100 is free, with tracking included. Just choose the Free Shipping option that becomes available at checkout when your cart totals $100 or more (after any relevant discounts).
Order was placed but have not received a shipping notice?
At the time you order, please take note of the stated TAT (Turn-Around Time) at the top of the page. Typically stated at 2-3 weeks, depending on the season.
If your order has fallen outside of the TAT and no shipping notice has been received, please reach out and let us know via the new Chat function at the bottom left of the screen. Sometimes email notifications get caught in spam filters & we can manually re-send the confirmation and tracking data.

Do we accept returns?
Due to the nature of the products we sell, refunds or returns are not offered. It is always best to purchase samples of fragrances first, whenever possible, before committing to a larger size.
Want to add on items to an existing order?
Sure! Place a new order and use the code ADDONSHIPPING to get Free Shipping on an order to be combined - please also put a note in the cart details asking for it to be combined with a prior order. Or, reach out via Chat or Email and let us know you want them combined.
(Note: orders placed using the free shipping code that do not have a prior open order to pair it with will be cancelled.)
