Latest Postal Strike Updates - Spring 2025

Oof, this is now too long to put on the Processing Times Pages, so here we go:

Canada Post workers are not actively engaging in work stoppage, but are in a strike position. Work stoppage (full or rotating) could occur anytime.

Union workers are now refusing overtime. They're working but strictly sticking to start/end times. This could cause delays, but things are otherwise running as usual. Now, that does not mean they are not on strike, they *are*, it's just that the current strike action is overtime refusal, not work stoppage.

What does this mean? Mail is happening but with delays & could stop with no notice, leaving en route packages stranded for an indeterminate period.

PULP Fragrance is not sending things as usual at this time via Canada Post, to avoid the potential for packages to get stuck in transit. (Possible exception to this below.)

As a little background to this: earlier this week Canada Post Corp presented the Union with new proposals, but only about 2 days before the strike was due to begin. The Union asked for a 2-week pause, but the Corp refused (something that has been underplayed in media IMO).

Now, the Union is choosing not to go on full strike/work stoppage & instead refusing overtime. I have no insider knowledge but to me this feels like the Union taking its own pause, even if CP Corp said no to a pause.

That means the Union is likely now reviewing the changed proposals, but since they are technically still in a strike position, could reject them and go on full work stoppage more or less anytime.

It's far too tenuous a situation for me to entrust packages to that until things become more clear how the Union is going to respond to the new proposals.

For now: I'm still sending orders with 3rd party courier & only to Canada/US.

For within Canada: courier still may not be able to deliver to non-metropolitan mainland addresses. I am happy to check them in advance. Send a Chat via website or email to: contact@pulpfragrance.com - if an address is undeliverable by courier, I'll give buyer option to choose Canada Post with understanding it could get stuck if full strike occurs & I can't refund/replace those, they'll have to wait.

It's a tricky situation for senders still, but we'll navigate our way through this! ❤️
