What do you mean when you say "Every Order Plants a Tree"?

We’re thrilled to share that we’re partnered with One Tree Planted to plant a tree for every order placed on our site.

Trees clean our air and water, create habitats for biodiversity, contribute to our health and wellbeing, and create jobs for social impact. One Tree Planted only plants local tree species, grown in nearby nurseries, and planted when conditions are optimal for tree survival.

We've chosen to donate specifically to their Forest Fire Recovery program, targeting reforestation efforts wherever on the globe they are most needed right now in the wake of forest fires. Reforestation is one of the best ways to restore soils and landscapes that have been degraded by high-intensity fires. We're honored to be working with One Tree Planted to help rebuild forests for generations to come!

Do you accept returns?

Due to the nature of the products we sell, refunds or returns are not offered. It is always best to purchase samples of fragrances first, whenever possible, before committing to a larger size.

Are your products vegan?

All scents are small-batch, handmade, and will be vegan barring any expressly noted as 'non-vegan' in the scent list or product pages. Any non-vegan materials are secondary animal by-products, such as butter CO2 extractions, beeswax absolute, etc. We do not use direct animal parts such as castoreum, deer musk, etc.

We also do not use endangered or threatened plant materials, to the best of our knowledge. If you see notes listed like rosewood, sandalwood, etc., those are reconstructions utilizing synthetics &/or other natural materials aside from the threatened species.

Do you ship outside Canada?

Absolutely! We'll send packages anywhere Canada Post will let us. EXCEPTION: UK and EU shipments are still suspended following VAT changes. Customers in these areas are directed to our Etsy shop instead.

All customers outside Canada are encouraged to check for any local import restrictions before ordering. We cannot replace or refund packages seized or destroyed by customs or be held responsible for any duties and taxes which may be incurred.

My order was placed but I have not received a shipping notice?

At the time you order, please take note of the stated TAT (Turn-Around Time) at the top of the page. Note that business days excludes weekends & holidays.

If your order has fallen outside of the TAT and no shipping notice has been received, please reach out and let us know. There have been a few times when Shopify glitched and lost a few emails, but we can manually re-send those messages to you from your order data page, on request.

Will there be free samples in the order?

Every order is guaranteed at least one free sample, selected at random. We prepare free samples in batches and pack them based on availability. Requests for specific samples slow down order processing times, so we're unable to accommodate those at this time.

Do you offer free shipping?

Yes! Shipping for all Canadian and US orders over $100 is free, with tracking included. Just choose the Free Shipping option that becomes available at checkout when your cart totals $100 or more (after any relevant discounts).

What carrier do you use in your perfume oils?

Perfume oils are all in an FCO (Fractionated Coconut Oil) carrier, but I can use an alternate carrier on request. Please email with alternate carrier inquiries.

Note: custom carrier requests may extend Turn-Around Time, as some fragrances may need to be rebatched to accommodate.

How long do I need to rest my perfume oils after arrival?

There is a long-standing idea in the indie fragrance world that oil-based perfumes require a certain amount of rest after they have been received. Transit conditions will be the number one factor here. How long they would need to rest would depend on any extremes of temperature or pressure they were exposed to on their journey, as well as any notable jostling or mishandling of packages. None of which is fully knowable by either the sender or recipient.

Our best advice is to let them rest long enough to settle to room temperature. This may be shorter in nicer weather or longer in the depths of winter or high heat of summer.

Aside from that, it is very important to note that we all smell things a bit differently from one timeframe to another. A single aromatic material stored at a stable temperature might smell different from one day to the next or from one time of day to another. Some perceived changes in aroma ascribed to 'resting' may be explained by recognizing the variance in our own olfactory abilities.

That noted, we say just rip open that package on arrival and smell away! That's what we do. Just remember that things may change a bit as they settle & your nose may change a bit the next time you smell them too.

Changes in scent are caused by so many moving parts in the interplay between the aroma and perceiver of the aroma. We've learned to embrace those changes. They're part of the story each fragrance has to tell us!
